The Anglomoil SMDrift race team will be in action at round two of the 2013/14 Just Car Insurance Australian Drifting Grand Prix at Perth’s Barbagallo circuit next weekend (December 7-8) where organisers have changed the track layout.
“Last year I was just beaten by a local driver because he knew the circuit so well, much like how I dominate at Mallala my home track, but with the changed layout this year we will all be starting at the same place”, says driver Simon Michelmore who is one of the most experienced drifting competitors in the nation.
The recently crowned SA Stadium Drift champion Simon was in the points in round 1 and his goal in Perth is to progress from the starting grid of 32 teams to the final 8 qualifiers then a podium result.
His recently built 390 kilowatt (at the rear wheels) Nissan S14 coupe has a very unique feature – “This car has the radiator in the boot which worked well in round one but with the added weight over the rear tyres I found they were too grippy. After I wore them down a bit my driving improved.”
Anglomoil, the 100% Australian owned and operated lubricant manufacturer, has had a long association with Simon having supplied products for his previous drift cars,
“Drifting is a harsh environment for engine lubricants with extreme operating temperatures, high rev’s and stop-start racing and we have found that the best product for reliability and performance of our high performance engines is the fully synthetic Anglomoil Roadmaster 500 API SN 10W/40. There is no sludging or water build up in the engine and the block, crank, rods and pistons which are carried over from my previous car have never had to be rebuilt.”
The S14 with its potent RB26/30DET turbo engine was built by Garage7 in Adelaide which uses Anglomoil products for all of its drifting and passenger car customers.
