Anglomoil supports quest for Australian drifting championship title

The 100% Australian owned and operated lubricant company, Anglomoil, has announced it is sponsoring the SMDrift race team in the 2013/14 Just Car Insurance Australian Drifting Grand Prix.

Team owner and driver Simon Michelmore began competing in the highly competitive world of drifting in 2004 and has collected a lot of silverware since – his best result in the previous season was first outright at the SA Stadium Drift.

“Anglomoil is proud to be associated with the SMDrift team. Simon and Jenna run a very professional outfit and the results show they are one of the leading drifting teams in the nation”, says Anglomoil’s James Taliana, “Apart from their on-track performance it has been exciting for us to see the mechanical advantages we provide through our products. For example, there is no sludging or water build up in the engine. When they drain the oil is comes out cleaner than other performance oils used in the past. And, the block, crank, rods and pistons have never had to be rebuilt.”

Simon races a 400 kilowatt Nissan S14 coupe which was built and tested by Garage7 the South Australian distributor for Anglomoil products. They prefer Anglomoil products for both their motor sport and non-motorsport customers including engine oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid, engine coolant and grease.

“We are very excited because Anglomoil has played an important part in our success over the years”, announced Simon and Jenna Michelmore, “We only use their products in our car and now we have their backing as well as their specialty products. Drifting is a harsh environment for engine lubricants with extreme operating temperatures, high rev’s and stop-start racing and we have found that the best product for reliability and performance of our high performance engines is the fully synthetic Anglomoil Roadmaster 500 API SN 10W/40.”

Simon adds, “My previous S14 was very reliable and gave me a lot of good results over the past five years but we decided it was time for a brand new car for the 2013/14 championship. This car has an RB26/30DET turbo engine with almost 400 kilowatts at the flywheel.”

The 2013/14 Australian Drifting Grand Prix includes four rounds at Mallala, Barbagello, Sydney Motorsport Park and Calder Thunderdome with the first round being held on October 5-6.
